Connection mapping

  1. As soon as a microbiology request is created in the LIS, it is automatically transmitted by PILOT.MALDI to MYLA for VITEK2 and VIRTUO (which only receives blood cultures) and a copy of the request is stored in the PILOT.MALDI database.
  2. Preparation of the identification project on PILOT.MALDI and transmission to MALDI Biotyper® sirius.
  3. Validation of MALDI Biotyper® sirius identification results in PILOT.MALDI with transmission to MYLA for VITEK2 and to the LIS.
  4. Validation of results on the VITEK2 (antibiograms) transmission to MYLA, then to the LIS via PILOT.MALDI.
  5. Return of VIRTUO blood culture results (vial number, volume, time to positivity, etc.) by MYLA, which forwards the results to the LIS via PILOT.MALDI.

Experience feedback

Dr Anthony TEXIER | Biologist – Hospital Practitioner Medical Laboratory

Why did you choose PILOT.MALDI?

« The system was proposed to us by Bruker • Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics to prepare the plates and validate the identifications made on the MALDI Biotyper® sirius System.

It also allows us :

  • To work on several workstations simultaneously.
  • To send validated identifications to the LIS (GLIMS) and to MYLA (for VITEK2).
  • To replace or add a system at any time, to perform antibiotic susceptibility tests,

And finally, there are no extra costs for connecting to the LIS. »

How did the installation go?

« We started installing the MALDI Biotyper® sirius System and PILOT.MALDI at the end of July/beginning of August 2021. The planning was done in agreement with Bruker • Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics and the laboratory. For the laboratory, there were no settings to be planned: the MYLA germ base was integrated into PILOT.MALDI at start-up. The most complicated part was getting the right display fonts, which were sent to us by BYG4lab® and had to be installed on all the workstations using the software. The changeover to routine took place at the beginning of October 2021, in order to allow users to familiarise themselves with a new technology in the laboratory. »

How was your experience with BYG4lab® support during the startup?

« Customer service was always very responsive, both on site and in the weeks that followed. »

Did you need further support from BYG4lab®?

« We had one problem after going into production ; a database blockage occurred once in October 2021, but this was very quickly solved. Customer service is easy to contact and the application engineer was very responsive. »
